WELS, characterized as theologically conservative, is the third largest Lutheran church body in America.  WELS began in 1850 when three German pastors met in Milwaukee. Today, it has grown to over 1,200 congregations in North America. It has over 400,000 baptized members, which includes over 300,000 communicants, served by over 1,000 pastors.
 
  
The Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary offers theological training that prepares men to enter the pastoral ministry of the WELS or of churches within its confessional fellowship. The seminary also endeavors in various ways to offer opportunity for theological and professional growth to called workers who already are serving in the ministry of its confessional fellowship.
 
 
Under God, Michigan Lutheran Seminary prepares young people for a lifetime of service to the Lord Jesus Christ.  The special purpose of MLS is to train students for the public ministry of the gospel and to enroll them upon graduation at Martin Luther College, New Ulm, Minnesota.
 
 
Martin Luther College exists to serve the ministerial needs of the (WELS) by preparing men for pastoral training at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary and by preparing men and women for service as teachers and staff ministers in the Synod’s churches and schools.
 
 
Located in southeastern Wisconsin and compelled by the love of Christ, Shoreland Lutheran High School exists to educate, equip, and encourage students for lives of Christian service.
 
  
Luther Prep is a four year preparatory high school owned and operated by the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod. Its primary purpose is to train and encourage young people for the pastoral and teaching ministry.
