Working Together as a Family Connected in Christ
 
Christ calls us to witness to his love with our words and to embody his love with our lives.  Through our St. John ministry, and with our St. John family, we offer a multitude of opportunities to put Christ’s love and power into meaningful service.  Whether you prefer to work with your hands or your mind, alone or connecting with others, doing something you already know or expanding your horizons into something new for you, we have opportunities for you to serve Christ, his people, and his world.

    Wondering what you can do? ... or whether you have anything to offer?

  • Christ and his Holy Spirit have gifted you with special spiritual gifts so you have the Holy Spirit, God himself, working in you and through you.  Do you wonder what these gifts might be?  ... or whether your gift is worth sharing?  Check out what Paul says in Romans 12:1-8 and 1 Corinthians 12.  Or consider how the Holy Spirit is gifting and exercising parts of your heart for service by taking a Spiritual Gift survey. 

    When you have worked your way through the survey, you might prayerfully consider opportunities on our St John ministry Time and Talent form, connect with a friend at St. John to see how you can serve together, or contact the pastor to discuss opportunities with him.  You might also contact one of our ministry leaders (a directory with contact information is on the back page of our newsletter) and see how you might serve.

    What interests you? Who interests you as a ministry partner or mentor?

  • Most of us have issues or concerns that are important to us ... or hobbies and talents that are special to us ... or people at St. John that we respect.  Our Spiritual Gifts survey might help you see how your interests may be Spirit-shaped.  Our Time and Talent form might help you see where we share your concerns or have ministry need for your talent.  Our ministry leader page might help you find someone you would like to connect with as ministry partner or mentor.  Read through our Ministry Plan; what catches your attention as a way you can serve Christ and his people?

    Or it might seem that your special concern or talent might not fit into our ministry.  Contact our pastor; he may be able to offer another perspective on how your concern or hobby might fit into our ministry.  Or it may be that the best way for you to pursue your concerns or hobbies is as salt and light in the world.  And that can be service to Christ too!

    Not the right time for an ongoing role? Don’t want to mess with forms and surveys?
  • Join us for our Second Saturday Workday - every second Saturday of the month from 9a-noon (includes lunch!).  Or schedule your own work day or project hour.  Contact our pastor, principal, or office; we almost always have a project where you can service Christ and his people!
There’s a whole-wide-world out there needing Christ’s love.  How can I do something for them?  Perhaps you’re ready for an adventure with WELS Kingdom Workers or WELS Christian Aid and Relief.  Check out their websites for exciting opportunities to serve Christ’s people around the world.
