A new school year has started! This year is special; it’s the 40th anniversary of our school. With the Lord’s blessing, we intend to make this year special not just with a look back, but with a look forward as we set a new vision for our school ministry. To help set the stage, please read on ...
A year ago 400 pastors, principals, and seminarians (future pastors) gathered at our Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon, Wisconsin, to hear and discuss three studies on Lutheran schools. The first two of those studies reviewed the importance and history of Lutheran schools as part of our ministry and are well-worth our discussion (ask Pastor Raddatz for a copy). Over the next several weeks we will be reviewing the third of the studies - What Practical Experience Teaches Us about Lutheran Schools - and what it says for our St. John School ministry. This third study comes from Rev. Donald Patterson, pastor of a thriving congregation with a thriving school in Austin, Texas.
As you read, consider your philosophy and experience with Lutheran schools, and feel free to share your thoughts in person, or by email, with Principal Kelley or Pastor Raddatz.
