MUSIC

Music is a key part of the St. John experience. Not only is music an important part of worship and entertainment, music also increases a student’s cognitive, social, and academic levels in and beyond the classroom.

  • Music classes (3-year-old preschool through 8th grade): Students are taught key concepts for creating, performing and responding to music.
  • Junior Choir (open to 3rd-8th grade): Children use the talents God has given them to spread his Word through song. The Junior Choir presents music about once a month at St. John and out in the community at places such as the mall, assisted living facilities, and nursing homes.
  • Instrumental Lessons: Outside music educators come to the school to give lessons for piano, brass, woodwind, string, and percussion. Lessons are typically held during regular school hours, and students perform during chapel and church services.
  • Musician Support Fund (MSF): As a musical church, we want to encourage children to play musical instruments. We recognize that not every family is able to afford the cost of music lessons. Therefore, we have the Musician Support Fund to pay for instrument rental, rent-to-own instruments, instrumental lessons, or repair fees on instruments they already own.
